CCA clears merger between Slovenska industrija jekla and Perutnina Ptuj

The Croatian Competition Agency (CCA) cleared the transaction on the basis of which Slovenska industrija jekla from Ljubljana Intends to acquire a majority participation in Perutnina Ptuj.

While SIJ is active in the steel sector and Perutnina Ptuj in poultry production, chicken meat sales and sales of processed poultry products, there are no overlapping activities of the parties to the concentration.

This transaction for SIJ actually means so called stepping into the boots of the target company – Perutnina Ptuj whose market share does not exceed 20 per cent in both relevant markets. Perutinina holds the second-best market share in Croatia, after the undertaking Vindija. The concentration concerned will not produce significant effects on competition and will not affect the structure of the relevant markets concerned.

Nevertheless, the CCA carried out a market test and published a public invitation on its website. No views or comments were received in reply from the market participants.
