The Croatian Competition Agency (CCA) approved the concentration between the undertakings Müller Trgovina Zagreb and the business unit Kozmo operating within Konzum in the retail of cosmetic products and toiletries in specialized stores.
The retail chains Müller and Kosmo used to have specialized stores in 13 counties whereas after the acquisition of Kozmo outlets, Müller will have entered the markets of Lika-Senj, Požega-Slavonia and Vukovar-Srijem County.
The implementation of the concentration between Müller and Cosmo will decrease the number of competitors in the relevant market. However, given that the post-merger market share of Müller will rise to some 20% – 30%, it will create additional competitive constraints on the market leader in Croatia – DM holding a 60% – 70% market share. Competitive constraints also come from Bipa holding a 10% – 20% market share.
For the above stated reasons the CCA found that the implementation of this concentration will strengthen competition in the relevant market.
