The area of competition (anti-trust) has been regulated by the Competition Act (Official Gazette No 122/03) and the relevant secondary legislation necessary for the implementation of the Competition Act.

Upon the proposal of the Competition Council, the Government of the Republic of Croatia has adopted the following eight regulations necessary for the proper application of the Competition Act:

The above mentioned regulations have been fully harmonized with the EC acquis and subsequently translated into English.

The majority of the relevant EC legislation has been translated into Croatian, some of it in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, and is available on the Croatian website of the Competition Agency.

The area of state aid has been regulated by the State Aid Act (Official Gazette No 47/03 and 60/04) and the Regulation on state aid (Official Gazette, No 121/03). In December 2004 the Competition Council adopted also the Ordinance on the form and content of the notification and the method of data collection and keeping the State aid register (Official Gazette No 11/05). The Alignment Programme of the Existing State Aid Schemes to the Criteria Stipulated in Article 70 paragraph (2) of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement between the Republic of Croatia and the European Communities and their Member States, and the Adjustment Programme of the Croatian State Aid System to the EU State Aid System (both published in Official Gazette No 125/04) have been submitted to and approved by the Croatian Parliament.

The most important texts covering the EC rules in this area relating to state aid guarantees, fiscal aid, employment aid, rescue and restructuring, regional aid, aid to shipbuilding, SMEs, de minimis aid etc. have been translated into Croatian and are available on the Croatian website of the Competition Agency.
