CCA representatives in Bilbao OECD-RCC seminar on competition, tourism and transport

The OECD-GVH Regional Competition Centre (RCC) in cooperation with the Basque Competition Authority and the Deusto University, organized a seminar in Bilbao from 18th to 20th March 2025 to address specific competition issues related to the tourism and transport sectors.

The economic and social impact of the tourism and transport sectors has garnered the interest of both national and international stakeholders, which at times face significant entry or operational barriers that may require the attention of competition authorities. The seminar focused on addressing these critical issues and supporting competition enforcers in overcoming the challenges they face.

Mirta Kapural, PhD, president of the Croatian Competition Council, presented the Croatian perspective on competition in the tourism and transport sectors through two key cases in the domestic market. The first case, the concentration between undertakings Eagle Hills–Sunčani Hvar in the tourism sector, and the second, that was the CCA issued opinion about the alleged anticompetitive practices of the local administration in the Town of Dubrovnik regarding the provision of taxi services.
