CCA clears concentration between Extra FM and HIT FM

The Croatian Competition Agency approved the acquisition of direct control by the undertaking Extra FM over the undertaking HIT FM, that in the meantime has changed its name to Extra FM Zagreb.

The CCA found that the concentration in question does not have significant effect on competition given the fact that it does not create or strengthen a dominant position of the parties to the concentration in the market concerned.

The CCA decision followed the decision of the Agency for Electronic Media (AEM) of 19 April 2018 that had cleared the concentration in question within the meaning of the Electronic Media Act.

In the case of media concentrations, it must be noted that the AEM is empowered under the provisions of the Electronic Media Act to ensure the protection of pluralism and diversity of electronic media as well es the implementation of the guiding programme principles. The issuance of radio broadcasting concessions (licences) for the provision of media services and giving a consent to programme changes fall also under the jurisdiction of the AEM.
