Agency for Electronic Media and Croatian Competition Agency sign a memorandum of agreement

On 13 March 2024 the president of the Competition Council, Mirta Kapural, PhD and the president of the Council for Electronic Media, Josip Popovac, signed a cooperative agreement in the area of competition in electronic media market, digital market and other connected markets

With the view to ensuring effective competition both parties committed themselves to fostering innovation in services and technologies in the electronic media market and digital market and giving access to new entrants. Both parties will make a constant endeavour to prevent any kind of anticompetitive behaviour in these markets.

Both regulators agree that fostering competition in these markets will bring benefits for the market players but also to the economy of the Republic of Croatia as a whole.

The parties will provide mutual assistance, expert and technical, in concrete cases handled by any of the authorities und the Competition Act and the Electronic Media Act, expert opinions upon the request of any of the parties regarding the compliance with competition rules of the players active in the markets concerned, as well as exchange relevant information and data.

Besides the exchange of information and direct contacts the cooperation will also include necessary trainings of the experts from both parties in the area of competition, particularly by participating in workshops organized by other authorities and institutions and by organisation of joint trainings, events, round tables and conferences. This agreement will continue to be a platform of cooperation between the authorities concerned that started many years ago.
